Tennis News: Dimitrov, Murray, Bencic

Dimitrov Update - rebound?

Andy Murray Return after Hip Surgery?
What appears to be the case is that no one ever really returns after hip surgery but maybe he will be the one.  My suggestion is to enjoy a healthy retirement after surgery and play the seniors tour when the time comes.  He can do exhibitions without hurting himself again.

Murray Pain Free - could return
He is pain free now but it will never be the same.  Take up sailing or golf.

Rafa Liked Football as a Kid Says Tony

Rafa the Footballer

He's probably lucky that his tennis took off early enough that he didn't get any injuries that would have taken him out of tennis at the highest levels.  That said, you can tell that his unique and amazing physical talents weren't simply produced on the tennis court but by the skills needed to master other sports as well.  This is a good argument in favor of cross discipline training especially at a younger age.

Why Fed Won't Become a Tennis Coach

Fed on his future

He's a smart man who knows what he likes and where he can best use his skills so this makes sense.  Plus, people would pay to see him play exhibitions probably more than any other player.

It may be just nerves or maybe it's a sign that splitting with the coach wasn't the right thing yet.

Can you be depressed and seem happy

There seem to be some pro tennis players that might fit this bill and usually I think it's punctuated by anger outbursts.  For the rest of us just remember many people have struggles and choose not to burden others with them.  They call it putting up a good front.

Ivo - nearing 40

Fed - A Journalist's Opinion

Hewitt Drops Cheeky Troll on Tomic

Novak could match Laver for a Slam this year  - Remember, Laver did this twice.  Once before open tennis and one almost a decade later when Open tennis returned.  It's amazing to think what Laver's record would be were it not for that hard head rule against professionals that the Majors once had.

They should have also asked how many of them have shoulder problems now.  With everything comes a price and pushups aren't the final answer either though they are part of the puzzle.

National Tennis Center - How it has transformed the American Tennis Scene

USTA National Tennis Center - Success

It's good that the USTA has taken the lead for rebuilding Professional Tennis in the USA.

Wilson Clash Tennis Racket - A new concept that includes control and power

Wilson Clash 100

I always look for new tennis technology so here is a promised innovation I thought I'd pass along. This new frame promises both control from flexibility that adds dwell time and power from stability.

I've always preferred control frames and accepted that I had to produce my own power and accept some reduction relative to a very stiff and powerful frame.  This does sound like an innovation.

A stable yet very flexible frame hopefully offers some injury protection for those who have elbow problems and those of us aging and finding the shock of hard hits much more noticeable than before.
