Tennis News: Federer record depends on Novak, Safarova Life after Tennis, Safarova after hours, Citi Open 50th, Mental Strength Raonic

Fed and Nole

Novak can play at an amazing level and the fact that he took out Rafa at Wimbledon says a lot about his recovery.  He is the one consistent guy standing between Fed and winning and Rafa and winning, or at least he was and appears to be doing so again.

Safarova

It's always interesting to see what pros do with themselves off the court.

Trolling Soccer Players at WImbledon - Neymar challenge

Trolling

Sorta funny, but you have to be a soccer fan to probably appreciate this.

Stan Smith, The Shoe and the Man

Stan Smith

I was in high school in the 1970's when I was able to see Stan Smith perform and exhibition match in Annapolis at a now defunct tennis club.  Sitting in the front row of folding chairs I was just a few feet from the court lines and it was an amazing thing to see Smith reach and smash overheads or his perfect volleys.  His serve of course was a cannon and just watching it gave me ideas on how to improve mine.

I played with his racket and wore his trademark shoes at one time.    It's nice to see the shoes have become a permanent fashion symbol so that when I want another pair I can find them.

Novak Eats Some Grass - and hoists a trophy

This is no surprise.  Once he made it past Nadal it seemed his biggest challenge had been cleared.  Congratulations Novak.

Long Tennis Matches

Six Hours - how much is too much

Some of the most memorable matches that I've watched are the marathons.  The McEnroe vs Wilander match comes to mind. 5+ hours
