While playing fewer tournaments Federer claims he can still hit the number one spot if he plays exceptionally well. More importantly, he believes he can win more Grand Slam tournaments.
I think he can win more as well though the number one position will be tough to get as long as Djokovic stays healthy.
I hope Fed stays in the game for another decade. We need more records that can't be broken.
