No kidding.  The last thing you want to do is have your mind focus on your back or to try to make it not focus on your back pain.  Thinking about not thinking about it will cause you to think about it.  Instead, go with the old standby remedies.  You know that list which includes meds, TENS units, stretching, exercise, and mental diversions.
