He was an original Tennis Lifer. He lived for the sport.
I didn't hear about his death in 2016 and today just did a quick name search to see how he was doing. The last I had heard about him was that he was still playing senior tennis matches into his 90's. This is a great feat considering how long ago he had played his best tennis reaching the finals of a number of Grand slams as a singles and doubles player. His highest US ranking was number one with a world ranking of number 6.
