Tennis Corruption?

Is it plagued with it?

I find it hard to believe since most players out there dream of reaching higher rankings.  I'm not sure I understand who would pay them to lose except their opponent.  At the higher levels it makes no sense to take a dive when you might win the big purse.

Djokovic think he can regain highest level of play

Barring injury I have no doubt he can get back to where he was as long as he stays focused.

Serena Williams Comeback on Clay?

Serena

Jankovic Retiring?

Is Jelena finished with professional play?

After any back surgery the question about the ability to compete professionally is always there.  It is never an easy or simple surgery from the patient's point of view.  Most of the time it only stops the pain but now new vulnerabilities and weakness become an issue.  Hopefully for Jelena she will find a good post professional life in coaching if she hangs up her rackets on the professional tour.

Sydney in dispute over Tennis Courts - Public vs Private

The funny thing here is that in the USA even public facilities charge fees to cover costs.  The ones that are subsidized and run by the government tend to be the least desirable.  In this case it appears that the association paid for everything and even paid rent and yet are still forced to defend the agreement.  Were they to walk away you can bet the club would decline in condition and operation.  I say this as a distant observer familiar with similar issues in the USA.

3 Healthy Habits for a Happy Successful Life

3 Habits - This is a great read for the simplicity and clarity it brings.

These habits as described in the article ring true and are often viewed in other ways and said differently.  Here is my outlook.

Contentment

For instance, stoic philosophy probably matches the the idea of contentment rather than looking for happiness at every turn.  If you can learn to find peace with what you have and what life has to offer without constantly striving you may find contentment.  Of course stoic philosophy is more encompassing in that you gain the means to cope with life's disappointments and challenges.  Here is a book that covers the modern take on worry.

Daily Exercise

This is a given no matter what you do with the rest of your life.  Lack of movement and physical workout will bring you down.  Tennis is my answer to this.  Even something as simple as going out and hitting serves is better than finding a spot on the sofa in front of the TV.  Find your source of physical activity and make it a habit that you can't break.

Health: Foot Detox Facts, Life Extension

Foot Detox

One recipe I have been shown is to use onion rubs.  If you have cracked heels it can help reduce pain.  Rather than waste an onion use the ends you wouldn't eat where where a small amount is left.  It is enough to massage into your feet.  Wear plastic food serving gloves or nitrile to keep the odor off your hands.

Is it effective?

Does it work?

Life Extension

Exercise is one of the keys along with other healthy habits such as natural foods and not smoking.  Even if you don't worry about living longer than your time you might find that feeling healthier while you are alive can make your time more enjoyable.

Fitness in L.A.: IV Drips, Vitamin Shots, and Temperature Treatments

Funny but no advisable

Find time for the tennis court or taking walks.  Find nature and see those things you miss.  Get sunlight and move.  Get wind and the noises of wind in the trees.  Find places you can do this without the sound of traffic.

If you want to take Vitamins limit the number so that you aren't overloading your system with pills and supplements.  Replace herbal supplements with actual items available at the grocery store like garlic, ginger root, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, etc.  The fewer pills the better for your mind, body, wallet, and overall health.  Just as importantly, do you want to be known as the vitamin nut unless of course it can be proven that taking all sorts of supplements really do help.

Health: Cutting Your EMF Exposure, Hygiene, Vitamins for Elderly

EMF

If electro magnetic fields increase health risks then cutting the EMF exposure you face daily may help.  The link above gives you some ideas how to do so.

The biggest one you probably can control is your RF exposure from your cell phone.  Another risk is fluorescent lights and possibly LED lights.  Good old fashioned incandescent bulbs seem to be the answer.

Turn off your Wifi if you can plug directly and turn it off when not in use if you can't use anything but Wifi.

Bluetooth and other items that operate against your body of course can mean maximum exposure.

Hygiene - Toilet seat covers and hand washing

If you are a traveler one of the biggest risks of not being at home is using a public bathroom.  The other big risk is eating out where others may not have good hygiene.  Use all the tricks of good hygiene to keep yourself safe.  Wash your hands.

Hooked on Vitamins - Elderly

I admit to using supplements for inflammation and hope they work.  Some vitamins like C and D seem to make sense.   I do know some Seniors that take twenty or thirty pills a day and this can't be good for you.  If you're going to take some supplements consider focusing on your specific issue whatever you are trying to remedy, so at least then you can determine if it helps in any way.  Taking vitamins for general well being seems to be questionable based on this recent study.

Study: Stopping Exercise Increases Depression Symptoms, Pasta not fattening

Stop Exercise - Increase Symptoms of Depression

Anyone who is an athlete knows this letdown when injury forces them to stop.  Taking few days off is probably good for your mental outlooks for the upsurge that comes from resuming it, but a long layoff is a downer for most who regularly exercise.

Pasta doesn't cause weight gain

I can agree if you continue exercise and don't eat more than you burn on a daily basis.  But if you consume more of these starches in calories than you burn then my experience says you will gain weight, study or not.  Enjoy your pasta but keep in mind that this is just a study and next week they might come up with something that says the opposite.

Teens Bored with Tech - Try Sports

Teens bored with tech

This is an ever present example of how kids get used to whatever is current and find boredom in every corner.  The one best way to get past this is to get them outside doing something such as sports of any kind.  Tennis comes to mind as a great long term answer.
