Walking for a health plan - Tennis Walking is even better

Jut walking for health proves valuable.

Walking

 Tennis Walking

Tennis Walking is a way of walking while practicing.   You don't have to run for balls that are out of reach of a walk.  Look at older players and you'll often see that they don't run or even jog but rather limit the balls they reach by how far they can walk to reach a ball.

Another approach to this is a toss and hit method of solo practice when you don't have a backboard.  Just toss the ball to the maximum distance you can move and reach it on one bounce while walking.

Strength Training For Life and Function

This is a good article on longevity benefits that you can derive from strength training

No matter what you do for your exercise it helps to have more strength.  You'll notice that you perform better and that you reduce your injury risk.  Even your balance and agility seem to improve.
Tennis strokes can benefit from the upper body, core, and leg strength.   Work on all of these to raise your performance.

Health: Human Lifespan

Human Lifespan only 38 years

I can agree with this.  Very few people I know have gone through life without multiple life-saving outcomes due to antibiotics, surgery, or other treatments.

Be happy that life is better now.

Add tennis for your health.

Health: Alzheimer's Risk can be Reduced

A plan

Diet and exercise are the most obvious anyway so only the specifics of this article should be the focus.

Fish oil, healthy fats, reduced blood sugar, and more exercise seem to be key.

Retirement: Rest or Rust - Tennis may be the solution for both

Rest and Rust

The trick is to stay viable by doing things that keep you mentally and physically active.  Tennis has to be one of the best ways to stave off decline in both the physical and mental realm.  It offers protection from social Isolation along with physical activity and mental stimulation.

Stay on the court.

4 Day Work Week - an Improvement

4 Days a week

To me this is an improvement.  Most people need a few extra hours each day to decompress from the daily grind and waste it at a bar or in front of a TV.  Why not just add a few extra hours to your day and come home exhausted enough to just rest and relax.  If this buys you an extra day of freedom each week I see it as a great tradeoff.

Choose wisely what you'll do on your free days and I suggest finding some time for tennis somewhere in there.  If you have some other physical activity then do that but consider that tennis players tend to have better health and can stay active in their sport much longer than most.  It's also a social sport so you can balance your life out in more ways than a physical activity.

Health, Stress, and Anxiety: 1 in 5 Nervous, Young are quitting jobs, Obesity,

1 in 5 in USA Nervous and ill with anxiety

Politics probably make this number as high as it is but also the drudgery of working jobs you don't like.

Young People quitting jobs

Obesity

Thoughts:

Limit what you eat in terms of bad food and quantity.  Drink more water.   Exercise - I suggest tennis.  Find work you like and can tolerate for the long term.

Health: Listening, Iron in Longevity, Gardening Tips for Health, Healthy Habits

Listening is a key

It does ring true that a breakdown in communications is often the causes of war, divorce, family strife, and a multitude of failures in life.

Gardening Tips for Better Health

All of these are true for gardening and all but one apply to time on the tennis court in my opinion.  Answer, have and garden and play tennis too.

Health: Your Feet, Chemicals in Water Threshold, Regrets - Mental health

Foot Health

This is a good article on keeping your feel in tone and strong for balance and safety.   The article suggests it's even the secret to a long life but aren't so many things according to the experts.  But we all have to walk so having your feet in tip top shape makes that happen.

Chemicals in Water Threshold Lowered for Safety

Life of Regret - how to avoid it.

This is great advice and what it ties into is your self image and what you expect of yourself.  If you don't match up to what you dreamed of doing and being or at least working toward it then yes you might feel failure and regret.  Relative to your dreams of a career in tennis many of us have had to make compromises.  In my own case a matter of injuries, finances, and reality of my existing options led me to choose teaching tennis as a life career.  Of course we all would love to play competitively for a living but I saw teaching as a way to stay with tennis throughout my life.  The reality is that a majority, a very big majority of those who tried to make a living playing end up teaching anyway.  Of course it does give you a leg up in terms of credentials to at least have played professionally even if not successfully enough to stay with it.  Think of this when you plan your future on the court and consider that everything you do is eventually leading you toward sharing your skills and what you have learned with others.  In the meantime enjoy every day on the court whether it's as a player or teacher.

Health: Vitamins - Are you taking too many?, Sunscreen Safety, Coffee and Tea Benefits, Heavy Exercise Risk, Unhappy People

Vitamins

The most obvious thing you can agree with in this article is that growing your own food has many benefits that include higher levels of nutrition versus store bought food.  There is no doubt that some vitamins and minerals help.  I can give you a specific example.  A potassium deficiency has all kinds of negative effects on the body including one I experienced and that is muscle spasms.  A doctor prescribed potassium pills and it went away immediately after having been a multi year problem. Now, it's been a decade and since I make sure to continue taking either potassium supplements or eating foods that contain it I haven't had the spasm problem again.

That is just one example.  Consider the benefits of natural intake first over vitamin supplements but aging also brings on the need for targeted supplementation for those of us that might have deficiencies or health issues that can benefit from them.

Sunscreen Safety

Consider wearing long sleeved shirts even when playing tennis.  Modern fabrics allow it without overheating in the sun and give you a SPF 15-30 protection depending on the color and type of fabric.  Putting Zinc Oxide based cream on your nose and top of your hands will give you some very targeted protection as well.

Coffee and Tea

Blood Test for Longevity

Now they say they can test your blood and predict how long you'll live.
I'm not sure I want to know and I'd sure like to be sure that it is accurate before I risk a panic attack once I found out and then lived a decade longer than predicted.

Here is one for you.

Play tennis and you'll extend your longevity simply by having a physical activity that puts you in a small active group past age 70.

Eternal Life Bacteria for improved health

Health is a big part of what tennis players find attractive about the sport.  Running parallel to that is the idea that you can give yourself an edge on the court with healthy habits.

New technology sometimes helps in this regard but old fashioned things like home remedies and simple use of basic foods and herbs.  Another concept is the use of a natural balance of bacteria in the digestive system and even on the skin that strengthens the immune system.

Here is a story of a scientist who took his experiment personally.  If successful he expects to gain better health and longer life.  I can't say I'd try this particular approach but the idea that in general there are many unknowns that can improve your health and this includes microorganisms.  Digestive bacteria is already one area that appears to improve a person's immune system that may have been damaged by antibiotic use or illness.

Proven foods that help in this may include any foods that introduce and replace gut bacteria.

Here is an interesting article on ways to introduce good bacteria into your digestive system.

Play Racket Sports - Live Longer

Tennis and Badminton at Top of Life Chart

It's nice to see this but I see it as a confirmation that mostly what happens is that active people choose sports that are conducive to long term participation.  I've known many players still on the court well into their 90's.

It seems the main benefit of Tennis is cardiovascular health so other risks may not be reduced.  Since cardiovascular disease is the biggest killer this study makes perfect sense.
